CONOCOPHILLIPS LUBRICANTS INTRODUCES TRITON™ SYNTHETIC TRANSOIL 50 Leading Lubricants Supplier Announces New Manual Transmission Oil to Meet Eaton Roadranger PS-164 Rev 7 Specification HOUSTON, (September 6, 2006) – ConocoPhillips Lubricants, the fourth largest U.S. lubricants supplier, today announced the introduction of Triton™ Synthetic Transoil 50, which is specifically formulated to meet the new Eaton Roadranger PS-164 Rev 7 specification. The new transmission oil is recommended for use in manual transmissions of heavy duty trucks operating in a variety of environments. Triton™ Synthetic Transoil 50 will be available to ConocoPhillips Lubricants customers who buy products under the Conoco, Phillips 66 and 76 Lubricants brands, according to Reginald Dias, director, commercial lubricants, ConocoPhillips Lubricants. "We are pleased to offer our customers a new synthetic manual transmission oil that provides significant improvements in high-temperature performance, oxidation stability, and wear protection," says Dias. "With the heavy demands placed on equipment today, ConocoPhillips Lubricants has made it a priority to offer products that help to elevate performance levels, in addition to meeting the most current industry specifications.” PS-164 Rev 7, the new Eaton manual transmission lubricant specification, replaces the previous specifications and sets a higher performance standard for oils used for 500,000 mile drain service in Eaton transmissions under extended warranty. This upgrade was driven by the OEM’s need to enhance gear pitting protection, reduce wear, increase oil oxidation stability and provide better component cleanliness in its equipment. Eaton specifies use of this upgraded engine oil in its new transmissions and also in older transmissions for extended warranty coverage. Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 provides the following benefits relative to the older generation products: - Increased protection against pitting and wear
- Improved thermal stability and component cleanliness
- Capability to reduce operating temperature in the transmission
ConocoPhillips Lubricants current synthetic transmission oils – 76 Triton™ Syn Lube CD-50, Conoco Syncon™ HP Synthetic Transmission Oil 50 and Phillips 66 Philguard® Transoil 50 – will be replaced by Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 as it gets incorporated into the heavy duty product line. Triton Synthetic Transoil 50 is fully compatible with the existing products that it will replace and may be used as make-up oil or for complete oil change in the Eaton transmissions. Due to revised technology, users will notice a color change from purple to a natural amber color in the new product. “In addition to providing our customers with a premium product, we are excited to consolidate the benefits of our existing branded products into a single offering,” said Dias. “This strategy will minimize product complexity while providing the best ConocoPhillips Lubricants has to offer.” To locate a distributor in your area or for additional information about this new offering, visit http://lubricants.conocophillips.com .
